10K Grand Prix Series Launches with New Name and Prize Structure

Novosco series rebrands to CANCOM 10K Grand Prix

Belfast based managed services provider Novosco, a CANCOM company, has announced a new prize structure for the under-35s as it launches its 2020 10K Grand Prix series.

This year, the series has been rebranded to the CANCOM 10K Grand Prix. It follows Novosco’s acquisition by the Munich-based CANCOM Group in 2019.

As part of the rebrand, the company has announced it will introduce a new prize structure to include cash prizes for the top three runners in the under-35s category* as well as prizes for the overall fastest male and female competitors.

These are in addition to the cash prizes awarded to the top 25 finalists in the series and race-day bonuses** awarded to the top three runners across the finish line.

In 2019, a total of 32 prizes were awarded, including awards for the top 25 ranked finalists, top five clubs and two special recognition awards.

New to the race schedule for 2020 is the Almac 10K at Craigavon Lakes in April and the Bob & Berts North Coast 10K in June. They form part of the 17-race series that launches on Sunday, March 15 with Jimmy’s 10K in Downpatrick.

Each race in the CANCOM 10K Grand Prix is timed and ranked using an age-graded scoring system, meaning the series is carefully designed to be mindful of gender, age and ability. It is open to individual competitors as well as six-person club teams.

Each runner’s ranking is maintained in an overall leaderboard after each race and runners must complete eight of the 17 races to feature on the official leaderboard.

Lee Glover, Account Manager at Novosco, a CANCOM company, said: “When Novosco was acquired by CANCOM one of the real standout features of our proposition was the 10K Grand Prix series for its close alignment to our employee health and wellbeing initiatives.

“We’re very pleased to be able to relaunch the series under the CANCOM brand and extend the cash prize offering to encourage more runners, and younger runners, to engage with the series and the many great athletics events that are programmed across Northern Ireland.”

The 2020 CANCOM 10k Grand Prix is supported by associate sponsor Forestside Shopping Centre and partners Athletics Northern Ireland and NI Running.
