Aaron Meharg and Leanne Sands win as Acorns AC dominate at The Loup 10k!

The Loup 10k & 5k 2017:

On Saturday 17th June 2017, well over three hundred athletes turned out in support of The Loup 10k and 5k races, close to Moneymore.  Weather conditions were excellent and given the start time, competitors did not have to deal with the heat which followed later in the day.

In the 10k, it was a closely fought battle between the Acorns AC men Aaron Meharg and Darrell McKee, with Aaron just edging it over the final metres to win in 34:20 (1st place).  Darrell followed in 34:21 (2nd place), before Glenn Donnelly, another Acorns AC athlete completed the top three in 35:23 (3rd place).

Leanne Sands continued the dominance of Acorns AC when she secured a comfortable win in the ladies race.  The Whitehead 5 winner broke the tape in 44:51 (1st place).  Caira Goddard (Acorns AC) claimed 2nd place in 45:37, while Laura McErlain (Magherafelt Harriers) prevented a clean sweep of the podium places by Acorns AC when she crossed the line in 46:55 for 3rd place.

Sam Linton (Acorns AC) took the top prize in the 5k race, winning in 17:21 (1st place).  Nadine Lagan (New Row Runners) won the ladies 5k in 22:10 (1st place).
