20 July 2020
Athletics Northern Ireland will host a Zoom meeting on Friday 24th July at 6.30pm to update clubs on the range of advice and guidance documents regarding the resumption of track & field competition.
In terms of organisation, the key difference between an inter club and an intra club competition is:
- Intra Club Competition requires no permit and can take place at the venue where you would normally train. It is for registered club members only.
- Inter Club Competition requires a permit, level 2 officials and to be held on a track that has achieved or is working towards Track Mark.
- Restrictions mean that some athletes will not get the opportunity to compete unless there are some intra-club opportunities and so we hope you will be able to organise this within your own club.
On Friday night, 24th July, Director of Coaching and Athlete Development, Jackie Newton will be joined by Director of Business and Operations, Kerry Woods, to go through the guidance documents and answer any questions that clubs and race organisers may have.
Also on the call will be officials from Lagan Valley Athletics Club who will provide feedback from their intra-club meeting held the night before. Officials and Volunteers from Lagan Valley have said that they are keen to help clubs that haven’t hosted competitions before and we encourage you to come onto the call and make contact.
