Armagh AC enjoy a successful night at the Armagh Sports Forum Awards

Armagh AC are well represented at local sports awards:

Last week, well respected Northern Ireland running club Armagh AC, organisers of the prestigious Armagh International Road Races and the Armagh 10m Road Race, were well represented at the Armagh Sports Forum Awards, held in the City on Thursday 16th May 2013.

The evening turned out to be a successful one for athletics, considering it was up against all sorts of other sports and sports clubs, such as football, hockey, swimming, boxing etc.  Up and coming Armagh AC runners Maxi Walmsley-Pledl and Danielle Fegan were shortlisted for male and female Sportsperson of the Year.

Maxi went on to win the Senior Sportsperson of the Year award.  Although, she was a very worthy nominee, Danielle Fegan did not pick up the female award; however, it’s easy to see that the talented lady has a bright future ahead of her in athletics (and running in particular).  Jim Ward, a member of Armagh AC also picked up the Volunteer of the Year award.

All in all, it was a very successful night for the hard working club and everyone involved, as they celebrate Armagh AC’s 45th anniversary.  Interestingly, Maxi Walmsley-Pledl celebrated his award by going on to win the Ulster Schools 5,000m title the very next night at Antrim Stadium; adding to the Ulster Schools XC title he already holds.
