Official Announcement:  Athletics NI announce Northern Ireland & Ulster team for Armagh International Road Races:

Congratulations to the 8 athletes selected to represent Northern Ireland & Ulster in the 2018 Armagh International Road Races, which are being held on the Mall in Armagh on the evening of 15th February.

The Women’s team is comprised of Laura Graham (Ryan Maxwell), Emma Mitchell (Eamonn Christie), Kerry O’Flaherty (Richard Rodgers) and Fionnuala Ross (Dermot Kerr).

James Edgar (Heather Ardis), Neil Johnston (Mark Kirk), Danny Mooney (Teresa McDaid) and Scott Rankin will line up for the men.

The Armagh International Road Races have become famous for recruiting top class fields, producing top-ranked times and providing a fantastic atmosphere for runners and spectators alike. We are pleased to name strong teams in the men’s international 5K event and the women’s international 3k.

The race is run on a 1Km road loop around the Mall in the town centre.

It is organised and delivered by Armagh Athletics Club and offers an inclusive programme starting at 6.30pm with races for children over distances from 400m to 2400m. The international races take place at 8.05pm (Women’s 3K) and 8.25pm (Men’s 5K).

Director of Coaching and Athlete Development, Jackie Newton, said: “This event offers a great opportunity for our athletes to compete against other high-performing runners on home ground.

‘’Armagh AC do an extraordinary job in attracting deep fields of competitive athletes from at home and overseas including Poland, Finland, the USA and New Zealand.

‘’They provide a flat and fast course and a highly-charged atmosphere that produces personal best times for many. We are looking forward to seeing our home-grown athletes perform at this event next month and are confident that they will challenge the ‘visitors’ for top places and times”.
