Following a fantastic inaugural Manchester International last year Athletics Northern Ireland have been invited to enter a team into this event to compete against England, Scotland, Wales, a GB & NI Under 20 team as well as a combined British Athletics League/ UK Women’ League team. The team includes athletes who have already achieved the consideration standard for next year’s Commonwealth Games along with athletes who are working towards it. It provides a great opportunity to gain the standard whether for the first time or, for those who already have it, to hit it again.

Jackie Newton, Director of Coaching and Athlete Development said, “This is the perfect competition for athletes to test themselves against others who may also be looking for Commonwealth standards. It will provide a golden opportunity to put down a marker that can then be used as they begin planning towards their 2018 Commonwealth goal.”
