Local athletes set for prestigious Manchester International Track & Field Meeting:
A strong Northern Ireland & Ulster team have travelled to Manchester (England) for tonight’s Manchester International at Sport City (Wednesday 16th August 2017).
The local athletes will compete against teams England, Scotland, Wales, and a GB & NI Under 20 team, as well as a combined British Athletics League/ UK Womens’ League team.
Included in the squad are several athletes who have already achieved the consideration standard for next year’s Commonwealth Games, along with athletes who are working towards it – eight of the team have recorded personal bests this season. The event provides a great opportunity to gain the standard whether for the first time or, for those who already have it, to hit it again.

“This is the perfect competition for athletes to test themselves against others who may also be looking for Commonwealth standards. It will provide a golden opportunity to put down a marker that can then be used as they begin planning towards their 2018 Commonwealth goal.”
