Ballydrain Harriers Weekly Update

Alex Turnbull at Down Royal.

This week has been very quiet on the race front with the only outing being Saturday 10th October’s penultimate ‘Forestside Shopping Centre’ sponsored ‘ChampionChip Ireland Running Series’, taking place at Down Royal Racecourse.

Ballydrain’s only representation was in the half marathon which saw 60 hardy souls toe the start line. First across the line was Ciaran Ferris of Springwell RC in an impressive 1:13:07 with North Belfast Harrier’s Mark McAvoy following in 1:14:08 and North Down AC’s Sean McLaughlin, third place in 1:15:03. Ballydrain’s Alex Turnbull crossed the line in 1:38:44 which represents a 6 minute PB! A great show in his first race as a Ballydrain member. The 5k was won by Eskander Turki in 15:18 and the 10k by Brian MacMahon in 32:31. The series finale is scheduled for 24th October at the new location of the Maze/Long Kesh heritage site.

As training continues under appropriate restrictions, Ballydrain Harriers would extend a warm welcome to new members wishing to join our friendly, welcoming club. For more info contact [email protected].
