Killeavy 10k Road Race 2018:
Brian McCluskey (North East Runners) and Sarah Graham (Mourne Runners) topped their respective podiums as over two hundred athletes turned out for the Killeavy Klassik 10k road race in Newry this weekend (Sunday 14th October 2018).
In the men’s race, Brian McCluskey enjoyed an excellent dual with Clones AC man Shane Toner, before securing top spot in 33:51 (1st place). Shane followed in 2nd place, completing the tough course in 33:58, before Gordy Graham of East Down AC completed the top three in 34:35 (3rd place).
Northern Ireland international mountain runner Sarah Graham clocked a new personal best to lead the ladies home. The Mourne Runners star broke the tape in 39:33 (1st place) to secure victory. Behind, there was an interesting battle for the runners up prize, with Eimear McCracken (City of Lisburn AC) and Aine Fegan (Armagh AC) both running well. In the end, it was Eimear who claimed 2nd place, recording 42:46. Aine followed in 43:02 (3rd place).
In the associated 5k event, Newry AC athlete Hughie Mackin took 1st place in 19:56, with Lisa Duffy (Club Unknown) winning the ladies race in 24:03 (1st place).
