Commonwealth Games:  Paul Pollock forced to withdraw from Marathon…

Unfortunately, Team NI has to announce that Paul Pollock will not be competing in the Commonwealth Games marathon due to an ankle injury.

Paul arrived in Gold Coast for Athletics NI Holding Camp and was midway through his planned training block when the injury developed. Despite the best efforts of support staff, there has not been enough time for the injury to settle.

A disappointed Paul said on social media, “Absolutely gutted. Been in similar situations before but this one particularly hard to take. Tarsal stress fracture last Saturday. Thanks to @GoTeamNI brilliant medical team but not to be.”

On a more positive note, Paul’s friend and training partner Kevin Seaward will compete in the marathon, which will take place at 11:15pm BST tonight (Saturday 14th April 2018).
