Conor Bradley and Maria McCambridge win Bobby Farren Memorial 5k Road Race!

Bobby Farren Memorial 5k Road Race 2018:

Track stars Conor Bradley (City of Derry AC) and Maria McCambrige (DSD AC) secured victory at last night’s Bobby Farren 5k road race in Eglinton, close to Derry/Londonderry.

The well organised event is hosted by Derry Track Club and covers a fast route around the village.

Spartan athlete Conor Bradley made full use of the route as he smashed the course record to lead the field home 14:46 (1st place).  In form Keith Shiels (Foyle Valley AC) followed in 15:15 for 2nd place, while Michael Bennett (Ballymena Runners) crossed the line in 16:38 (3rd place) to secure the final podium spot.

Olympian Maria McCambridge impressed with a win in the ladies race, covering the 5k route in 16:54 – this was enough to see Maria take first place in the ladies race and 4th place overall.

Local lady Ciara Toner (Springwell RC) was also in good form, clocking an excellent 17:26 for 2nd place in the ladies race and 6th place overall.  Shelagh Murray (City of Derry AC) recorded 21:10 for 3rd place.
