Dan Tanui and Amy Bulman win Lough Neagh 5 mile Race!


Lough Neagh Rescue 5 mile Race 2017:

On Saturday 20th May 2017, Lough Neagh Rescue welcomed well over one hundred athletes to their 5 mile on the shores of Lough Neagh in Antrim.

Project Africa Athletics athlete Dan Tanui did what he had to in ensuring he ran out victorious – the Belfast City Marathon podium finisher edged clear of Willowfield Harriers’ Thomas Carson in the final metres to win in 28:55 (1st place).  Thomas followed in 28:57 (2nd place), before Stephen Nicholson (PACE Running Club) crossed the line in 29:01 for 3rd place.

Amy Bulman (Willowfield Harriers) won the ladies race in 30:36 (1st place); this was enough to see Amy claim 9th place overall.  Jengana 10k  winner Nicola Swinson (PACE Running Club) took 2nd place in 34:57, while Gillian Miskimmin (Unattached) clocked 35:24 for 3rd place.

Elsewhere this weekend, local events management company Atlas Running hosted the Knockevin 10k and associated 5k races in County Down (Saturday 20th May 2017).  East Down AC pair James Savage (35:19) and Catherine O’Connor (37:05) took 1st place and 2nd place respectively in the 10k event, while Newcastle AC’s Ronan McVeigh and East Down AC’s Lauren Madine won the 5k – Ronan ran 21:30 (1st place), with Lauren recording 22:45 (1st place).  Full results for the event are available HERE.

Less than 24 hours earlier, athletes enjoyed the M5M 5k and 5 mile races in Maguiresbridge, County Fermanagh (Friday 19th May 2017). Clones AC star Shane Brady won in 27:51 (1st place), with Lisa Coyle (1Zero1) securing the ladies title in 35:17 (1st place).  Full results for the event are available HERE.
