Dan Tanui and Catherine Whoriskey win Strabane-Lifford Half Marathon!


Strabane-Lifford Half Marathon 2017:

On Sunday 14th May 2017, Project Africa Athletics man Dan Tanui claimed top honours as well over 1,000 competitors took on the Strabane-Lifford Half Marathon.  After moving through half way with team mate Hillary Chirchir, the Les Jones 10k winner Dan went on the seal victory in 1:06:16 – Hillary Chirchir took 2nd place in 1:07:30, before local hero Stephen Duncan (Omagh Harriers) secured 3rd place in 1:10:42.

In the ladies race, the always impressive Catherine Whoriskey (City of Derry AC) looked a class act as she cruied to victory.  After going through half way in 38:36, Catherine completed the cross-border route in 1:18:32 (1st place). Belfast Marathon podium finisher Salome Jepkoech Kimutai (Project Africa Athletics) claimed 2nd place in 1:21:05 and Michelle Sweeney (Omagh Harriers) clocked 1:31:07 for 3rd place.
