Craigavon Lakes 10k & 5k 2017:
On Wednesday 7th June 2017, athletes from all over Northern Ireland travelled to Craigavon for the annual Craigavon Lakes 10k and 5k races. The 10k race saw competitors cover two laps of the fast route, while the 5k athletes took on one lap.
Newcastle AC’s David O’Flaherty continued his good recent form when he led the 10k field home in 32:12 (1st place), well over one minute clear of his closest rival. John Craig (Victoria Park & Connswater AC) crossed the line in 33:36 for 2nd place, just ahead of Dromore AC’s Stephen O’Gorman; Stephen ran 33:49 for 3rd place.
In the ladies race, Bann 10k winner Susan Smyth (Dromore AC) again impressed, breaking the tape in 39:38 (1st place). St Peter’s AC athlete Roslyn Dobson took 2nd place in 42:06, before Hazel Smyth (Dumfries Running Club) completed the top three in 42:21 (3rd place).
In the associated 5k race, Dermot Mathers (Unattached), excelled with a 16:22 finish for 1st place. Emma Mulholland (St Peter’s AC) crossed the line in 21:48 to for 1st place in the ladies race.
