David Simpson and Louise Smith win Kennedy Kane McArthur Festival of Running Dervock Half Marathon!

Kennedy Kane McArthur Festival of Running Dervock Half Marathon 2018:

On Saturday  21st July 2018, Springwell Running Club hosted their popular Dervock Half Marathon, which is part of the annual Kennedy Kane McArthur Festival of Running, which included a 5 mile Race..

The Dervock Half Marathon is also part of the Pure Running Half Marathon Series.

Versatile Newcastle AC athlete David Simpson returned to competitive action with an excellent performance, breaking the tape in 1:15:17 (1st place).

Willowfield Harriers’ Neill Weir, who performed well at the recent Portaferry 10 mile road race, took 2nd place in 1:17:37, before Don Travers (Newry City Runners) completed the men’s podium in 1:18:20 (3rd place).

In the ladies race, North Belfast Harriers athlete Louise Smith led the way, claiming a comfortable win in 1:26:40 (1st place).  In a close battle for the runners up prize, Amanda Perry (Ballydrain Harriers) edged 2nd place in 1:32:40, just six seconds ahead of Leann Gibson of Victoria Park & Connswater AC, who recorded 1:32:46 for 3rd place.

Oliver Cook (PACE Running Club) and Caroline Irwin (Springwell RC) won the associated 5 mile race, with Oliver running 28:16 (1st place) and Caroline 36:34 (1st place).
