Decathlon Belfast 10K 2019 Report

On Sunday 3rd November, 750 runners took part in the annual Decathlon 10k road race. The course is on a flat and fast route on the Airport Road in Belfast.

Leading the race from the start, was John Craig (Victoria Park & Connswater AC) and Lawrence O’Hara (North Belfast Harriers). John pushed the pace to open up a substantial gap, winning the race in 32.46.

Lawrence crossed the line for 2nd place in 33.47. Gary Dane (Victoria Park & Connswater AC) broke free of the chasing pack to complete the men’s podium in 34.58.

In the ladies race, English athlete Katherine Smith (Pershore Plum Plodders) had a strong run to win in an impressive time of 40.59. Crossing the line shortly after was Gemma Blake (unattached) in a time of 41.12.

Geraldine Quigley (Ballymena Runners) completed ladies podium in 42.03.
