Eoin Hughes and Aisling Murray win Stanley Reid Memorial 5 mile Road Race!

Stanley Reid Memorial 5 mile Road Race 2018:

Acorns AC man Eoin Hughes and Carmen Runners athlete Aisling Murray excelled as athletes from across Northern Ireland turned out for the 17th annual Stanley Reid Memorial 5 mile road race in Cookstown (Friday 3rd August 2018).

The event is held in memory of Stanley Reid, a fine runner in his own right who organised the first 5 mile classic in 2002.

Competitors covered a the scenic rural course around Cookstown and it was pre-race favourite Eoin Hughes who led the field home.  The Paul Pollock coached athlete crossed the line in 26:55 for 1st place.  Club mate Glenn Donnelly (Acorns AC) followed in 27:08 for 2nd place, with Eoin Mullan (Omagh Harriers) completing the top three in 27:32 (3rd place).

In the closely contested ladies race, it was Aisling Murray who broke the tape first.  Aisling won in 30:30 (1st place), holding off Acorns AC runner Leanne Sands, who took 2nd place in 30:34.  Olivia Mullan (Greencastle AC) crossed the line in 33:37 for 3rd place.
