#FabNine Selected for European U20 Championships 2019

An impressive nine young athletes from Northern Ireland & Ulster have been selected to be part of the Irish Team for the European U20 Championships in Boras, Sweden on 18th– 21st July 2019.

In the Women’s 400m will be Beechmount Harriers’ Davicia Patterson (C: Ian Neely), who is currently 3rd in the European rankings for the distance. She will also be taking part in the 4x400m Relay team, along with Rachel McCann (North Down AC/ C: Michael Roberts).

Commonwealth Games athletes, Sommer Lecky (Finn Valley AC/ C: Niall Wilkinson) has been selected to part in the High Jump, as she is currently 7th in the European Rankings and Kate O’Connor (Dundalk St Gerards/ C: Michael O’Connor) will be in the Heptathlon, where she is 3rd in the European rankings. She will also be in the Javelin and is a travelling reserve for the 4x100m Relay team.

Katie Monteith (City of Lisburn AC/ C: Lyn Fisher) will be part of the 4x100m Relay team, while her club mate, Adam Hughes (City of Lisburn/ C: Ian Neely) will be in the 4x400m Relay.


Top European U20 200m athlete, Aaron Sexton (North Down AC/ C: Roger Sexton) has been selected for the 200m and the 4x100m Relay.

In the Men’s U20 Shot, Finn Valley AC’s James Kelly (C: John Kelly) will be taking part, while his club mate Aaron McGlynn (C: Mark Kirk) has been selected as a non-travelling reserve for the 4x400m.
