Gordy Graham and Karen Wilton win feature HM at Born 2 Run Dambusters Event!

Born 2 Run Dambusters Events 2018:

Gordy Graham (East Down AC) and Karen Wilton (Jog Lisburn AC) won the feature Dambusters Half Marathon as nearly one thousand athletes descended on the Mourne Mountains for the annual Born 2 Run Dambusters Events; the event included a half marathon, 10k and 5k.

Kilkeel based athlete Gordy Graham slashed his 2017 time for the tough hilly course as he ran out victorious in an impressive 1:19:50 (1st place).  Chris McCafferty (Club Unknown) finished well to take 2nd place in 1:20:15, before Don Travers (Newry City Runners) secured a well-deserved podium place in 1:21:06 (3rd place).

In the ladies race, Karen Wilton sealed top honours by almost two minutes as she crossed the line in 1:25:55 (1st place).  Louise Smith of North Belfast Harriers clocked 1:27:47 for 2nd place, with former team mate Cathy McCourt (Unattached) running 1:30:16 for 3rd place.

In the associated 10k race, pre-race favourite Stephen O’Gorman (Dromore AC) won in 34:19 (1stplace), finishing just five seconds ahead of Stuart Farmer (Club Unknown), who recorded 34:24 for 2nd place.  East Down AC’s Martin Wilcox completed the podium in 37:11 (3rd place).

Newry AC star Ciara Coffey won the ladies race in 41:33 (1st place), with junior athlete Pauline Zazulczak (Club Unknown) impressing after taking 2nd place in 42:54.  Hannah Irwin (Club Unknown) ran 45:03 for 3rd place.

Jared Martin (Scrabo Striders) and Patricia Brown (Newry City Runners) claimed the top prizes in the 5k race, with Jared leading the way in 18:07 (1st place) and Patricia recording 21:38 for 1st place in the ladies race.
