Para Athletics European Championships 2018:

Northern Ireland man Jason Smyth (Derry Track Club) produced another stunning performance as he claimed his 18th senior Championship gold medal at the Para Athletics European Championships in Berlin, Germany (Thursday 23rd August 2018).

Jason recorded 10.66 secs to take 1st place in the 100m, this was another European Championship record for the 31-year-old, who claimed the 200m gold in a European record earlier this week.

Also today, 16 year old Eve Walsh-Dann made her senior Championship debut with a 200m personal best of 30.74 secs.  City of Lisburn AC’s David Leavy, who was also making his Para Athletics Championship debut, clocked 4:28.72 for 7th place in the 1500m.

Today’s excellent performances follow on from Sally Brown’s brilliant silver medal yesterday (Wednesday 22nd August 2018).  Sally took the runners up spot in a huge season’s best of 64.25 secs.
