Jason Wilson and Gillian Wasson complete impressive double for Ballymena Runners at An Creagan 5 mile Trail Race!

Sperrin Harriers Winter League Trail Series 2017/18:

On Saturday 13th January 2018, Sperrin Harriers held the latest race of their popular Winter League Trail Series 2017/18, the An Creagan 5 mile Trail Race.

Jason Wilson (Ballymena Runners) showed that he is back to his best with an excellent performance and win.  The talented and versatile athlete recorded 29:00 for 1st place.  Matthew Neill (Omagh Harriers) followed in 29:14, taking 2nd place ahead of his club mate, Conor Maguire (Omagh Harriers), who completed the route in 29:29 (3rd place).  The host club’s Brian Taggart (Sperrin Harriers) secured 4th place in 29:55, while Pete Neill (Omagh Harriers) ran 30:08 for 5th place.

In the ladies race, Gillian Wasson made it a Ballymena Runners double when she broke the tape in 33:28 for 1st place.  Karen McLaughlin (Springwell Running Club) ran 35:03 (2nd place) for the runners up prize, before Olivia Mullin (Greencastle AC) completed the top three in 35:06 (3rd place).  Amanda Donnelly (Sperrin Harriers) and Laura Mitchell (Sperrin Harriers) from the host club, proved popular prize-winners as they crossed the line in 36:09 (4th place) and 36:11 (5th place) respectively.

The next race in the Series is the Drum Manor Forest 10k on Saturday 27th January 2018.
