Keith Shiels and Gemma McDonald take top prizes at Termoneeny 10k!

Termoneeny 10k 2018:

On Friday 11th May 2018, nearly three hundred athletes turned out for the annual Termoneeny 10k road race, a popular and well-organised event hosted by Termoneeny Running Club.

At the head of the pack, it was Foyle Valley AC’s Keith Shiels who led the way.  The Larne Half Marathon runner up edged out Eoin Hughes (Acorns AC), son of Termoneeny legend Tommy Hughes, to win in 32:08 (1st place).  Eoin followed in 32:38 for 2nd place, before Seamus Bradley (Unattached) completed the top three in 35:16 (3rd place).

In the ladies race, there was an interesting dual between talented pairing Gemma McDonald (Ballycastle Runners) and Grace Carson (Mid Ulster AC).  In the end, it was Gemma who emerged victorious, breaking the tape in 39:12 (1st place), just eleven seconds ahead of junior athlete Grace, who clocked 39:23 for 2nd place.  Termoneeny RC’s own Helena Quinn claimed a podium place, crossing the line in 39:46 for 3rd place.
