Kent Swann and Janice Plumb win inaugural Quarry 5k!

Quarry 5k 2018:

On Friday 3rd August 2018, just under 100 athletes lined up for the first running of the Quarry 5k race in the County Antrim village of Carnlough, on the famous Antrim Coastline.

The well organised event, hosted by Glenlough Running Club, saw competitors cover a tough but incredibly scenic course, starting and finishing in the heart of the village.

North Belfast Harriers athlete Kent Swann picked up his second win in as many weeks in the area. After winning at the Dalriada Festival in the neighbouring Glenarm village, Kent topped the podium with a time of 17:52 (1st place).  Endurance athlete Mark Smith (Mallusk Harriers) clocked 18:28 for 2nd place, while East Coast AC’s crossed the line in 18:42 for 3rd place.

In the ladies race, recent Larne AC recruit Janice Plumb won in 22:56 (1st place).  Helen McCormack (Ballymena Runners) took the runners up spot in 26:43 (2nd place), while the host club’s Kirsten Montgomery (Glenlough Running Club) secured 3rd place in 26:47.
