Ladies Team on the Podium again! Ballydrain News

The highlight of this weekend was the NI & Ulster Intermediate and Masters Cross Country. The event was held on Saturday 25th January in Gosford Forest Park, Markethill.

Ballydrain Ladies team ran in the Masters race, defending their title as champions.

The race was three 1600m laps. The team required 6 runners with the first 4 finishers scoring for the team competition.

The ladies would like to thank head coach Jim Hayes for his support and encouragement during the race as well as his photographic skills. The first finisher for Ballydrain was Alison Stocks (19.27) who was incidentally 9th overall. She was soon followed by team-mate Denise Logue (19.33.)

The race was won by Claire McGuigan (Lifford Strabane AC) in 17.54.

The Ballydrain ladies always pack closely and this is a great advantage in team events. Although the ladies didn’t retain their title, they still made it on to the podium.

The team event was won by North Belfast, Lagan Valley were 2nd, with Ballydrain a very commendable 3rd. Well done once again to the ladies, 2 podium places in 2 weeks.
