Larne Athletic Club, in association with AES Ballylumford will host their popular Half Marathon on Saturday 23rd March 2013 (11am).
Last year the 13.1 mile event, which is now considered as one of the highlights of the Northern Ireland race calendar attracted 1400 people, ranging from elite athletes to fun runners wanting to challenge themselves.
The 21st running of the race will see runners start on Chaine Memorial, run through the Town Centre, where live music will entertain awaiting spectators and shoppers alike, before heading out the stunning Coast Road towards Ballygally and Cairncastle. On completing a rural loop, competitors will return to the Coast Road and run back towards the finish at Larne Leisure Centre. There will be 1:30, 1:45 and 2:00 pacers available for anyone aiming for any of these times.
All finishers will be awarded a commemorative medal, a t-shirt and be able to enjoy the plentiful refreshments on offer. Larne Athletic Club have significantly increased the prize-money on offer for the race winners (1st place Male/Female get £400 each), category winners and relay team winners. There will also be a team prize (£100) and extra incentives (£50) available for anyone who breaks the course record of 1:10:37 (Men) or 1:23:56 (Ladies).
Online Entry (and Event Information) is now available at www.larnehalfmarathon.webs.com; Pre-Entry will cost: Half Marathon: £18 (Affiliated) or £20 (Un-Affiliated), Relay Team: £36 per Team, Walk (10am Start): £12. Entry will be available on the day at Larne Leisure Centre but at an increased rate.
