Great City Games Manchester 2018:
Northern Ireland men Leon Reid (Birchfield Harriers) and Jason Smyth (Derry Track Club) impressed with wins at the prestigious Great City Games in Manchester, England (Friday 18th May 2018).
Competing in separate 150m races at the unique City Centre event, Leon won in 15.52secs (1st place), while Jason broke the beam in 15.82secs (1st place).
After the race, Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Leon Reid said (on social media): “Another race, another win. So buzzing to win the 150m in Manchester.”
Leon added, “Once again the only person in the field without a sponsor but its cool because my training partner gave me some old spikes.”
Fellow NI man, decorated Paralympic star Jason Smyth was also happy with his win, saying, again on social media: “Great event to be part of to start the season.”
