Familiar faces impress at events in Ireland, England and France:
On Sunday 16th July 2017, Northern Ireland man Paddy Hamilton (Slieve Gullion Runners) was in top form as he secured victory as well over three hundred competitors took on the annual Dunleer 4 mile road race.
The always impressive athlete covered the distance in 19:58, taking 1st place.
Lakes Sky Ultra – Skyrunning UK National Series 2017 (England):
On Saturday 15th July 2017, BARF’s Jackie Toal took on the ‘Lakes Sky Ultra’ in England.
The event, which is part of the Skyrunning UK National Series, saw the hardy athletes cover a technical 56k course, which also incorporated a gruelling 4,500m of ascent.
Northern Ireland international mountain runner Jackie was in the top three of the competitive ladies field for almost all of the event, finally sealing a noteworthy podium place in 11:24:27 (3rd place).
Montee Nidi d’Aigle Mountain-Trail Race (France):
On Sunday 16th July 2017, respected mountain runner Mark Alexander (Ballymena Runners) took on the famous Montee Nidi d’Aigle Mountain-Trail Race in France.
The course was relatively short in distance, measuring 20k, but the associated 2,000m of ascent (over the 20k) makes it a ‘brutal’ task – however, the Ballymena Runners made seemed to make short work of it as he bettered his time on the course in 2016 when crossing the line in 2:54:11 (157th place.
