Mark McKinstry and Amy Bulman lead the way at Nissan 5 mile Classic in Coleraine!


Nissan 5 mile Classic Road Race 2017:

On Wednesday 9th August 2017, close to three hundred and fifty competitors turned out for the annual Nissan 5 mile Classic road race in Coleraine, a well-organised event hosted by Springwell Running Club.

In-form pair Mark McKinstry (North Belfast Harriers) and Amy Bulman (Willowfield Harriers) secured top honours, with impressive performances.

Mark led the men’s field home in 24:51 (1st place), with birthday boy Declan Reed (City of Derry AC) continuing his return to full fitness with an excellent 25:28 clocking for 2nd place.  Acorns AC’s Eoin Hughes claimed 3rd place ahead of a string of well known athletes, crossing the line in 25:43.

Northern Ireland cross country star Amy broke the tape in 29:25 (1st place), her fastest recorded time for the 5 mile distance.  Local lady and podium regular, Ciara Toner (Springwell Running Club), claimed the runners up prize in 30:12 (2nd place), while Spartan athlete Jacqueline McMonagle (City of Derry AC) completed the top three in 32:02 (3rd place).
