Paul Murray Grand Prix 5k Series – Race 3 (submitted by organisers):

On Friday 22nd June 2018, over 250 runners descended on Eskra for the third race in the Paul Murray Grand Prix 5k Series.

On a warm evening the runners were faced with a challenging rural 5k route. Once again the crowd were treated to top class road running with the impressive Martin Cox (Carmen Runners) pulling away from the field to win in a time of 15:39 (1st place).  Brian Taggart (Sperrin Harriers) clocked 16:36 for 2nd place and was closely followed by Eoin Mullan (Omagh Harriers) in a time of 16:39 (3rd place).

In a closely contested ladies race, local runner Grainne O’Hagan (Knockmany Running Club) was first across the line in a time of 19:06 (1st place).  Paula Donnelly claimed 2nd place in a time of 19:15, before Michelle Donnelly (Derry Track Club) completed the top three in 20:22 (3rd place).

Depending on who completes at the final race the men’s overall winner should come from Martin Cox (Carmen Runners), Paul Barbour, Adrian Scullion (Knockmany Running Club), Brian Taggart (Sperrin Harriers) or Michael Kerr (Carmen Runners). Whilst the Female series is also on a knife edge providing an interesting final race between Paula Donnelly and Grainne O’Hagan (Knockmany Running Club).

The other category winners were Micheal Kerr (Carmen Runners) Male O40, John McGrath (Knockmany Running Club) Male O50 and Tommy Gartland (Knockmany Running Club) Male O60.
