Mary Peters Track set to re-open:

Athletics Northern Ireland announce re-opening of MPT:
Mary Peters Track will be reopening for public use on Thursday 28th March from 12 noon onwards.

Bookings are now being taken for use from 28th March onwards and a temporary membership scheme for regular track users will be in place until the end of April.  It is envisaged that a full membership scheme will be available from May onwards.  Full details of the new booking arrangements, how to obtain temporary membership, the initial costs and other information can be viewed by visiting the Athletics Northern Ireland website.

For the first number of weeks there will be some restrictions placed on use for throwing events. The newly re-laid infield requires at least another month of grass growth to bring it up to normal standard. Therefore no Javelin, Discus or Hammer throwing will be allowed, however, Shot Put will still be possible.

Please note:-  The manufacturers recommendation for the Mondo surface is that Spikes of a maximum 5mm length should only be used on the track. This will be strictly enforced.  The inside lane of the track will  be reserved for use in competition only and will be not be available during training sessions.
