McGrady Financial Services Junior XC Series 2019/2020 – Race 3, Dromore

What a great day of running at Race 3 of the McGrady Financial Services Junior Cross Country which was hosted by Dromore AC at Dromore Community Centre.

Even though a few athletes were competing at the All Ireland XC at Abbottstown, there was still a great turnout of Junior Athletes from Newcastle AC, 3 Ways AC, Burren AC, East Down AC, Dromore AC and Murlough AC.

The biggest race of the day was the P4 and Under Girls, with Saoirse Morgan from Burren AC taking the win. There was also some very enthusiastic competitors in the P4 and Under Boys race, with Harry McVeigh from Newcastle AC winning.

The P5 Boys race ended up a Newcastle AC 1, 2, 3 with Darragh Ruddle 1st, Conall Kelly 2nd, and Darragh Kerr 3rd.

But without a doubt, the best race of the day was the combined Year 9 Boys & Girls with an outstanding 100m sprint finish between Oliver Corrigan of Newcastle AC and Amy McCartan of Dromore AC. While both athletes were being cheered on by excited spectators, Amy just pipped Oliver to the post after he took a glance over the wrong shoulder!

Other winners were:

Harry McVeigh (Newcastle AC) P4 and Under Boys

Maisie Nicholl (Dromore AC) P5 Girls

Henry Houston (Newcastle AC) and Sarah Uhomoibhi (Newcastle AC) P6

Kieran Trainor (East Down) and Ava McArdle (Burren AC) P7

Robbie Nicholl (Dromore AC) and Blathnaid McCarthy (Burren AC) Year 8

Ethan McMullan (Newcastle AC) and Anna McKernan (Dromore AC) Year 10

Rory Corrigan (Newcastle AC) and Kate McCartan (Dromore AC) Year 11+

Well done to everyone who took part in Race 3 and a big thank you to our sponsors McGrady Financial Services and to all the organisers, volunteers, parents and children who make this event happen.

Registration is now open for Race 4 which will be held on Sunday 19th January 2020 at Delamont Country Park. See you there!
