Sperrin Harriers Stunnerz ‘N’ Runnerz 5 mile Road Race 2017 and more…
On Saturday 10th June 2017, more than 300 runners turned out for the annual Sperrin Harriers Stunnerz ‘N’ Runnerz 5 mile Road Race, a ladies only event.
At the head of the pack, pre-race favourite Natalie Hall (Acorns AC) lived up to expectation with a strong performance. Former Novice XC Champion Natalie impressed with a 31:57 finish for 1st place. In-form athlete Sarahjane Guiney (Unattached) followed in 32:37 for 2nd place, before the ever consistent Julie Murphy (Lagan Valley AC) completed the course in 33:05 for 3rd place. The returning Sarah Jane McFadden (North Belfast Harriers) crossed the line just four seconds later in 33:09 (4th place), while Suzanne Higgins (Lagan Valley AC) completed the top five in 33:15 (5th place).
Also on the roads…
Northern Ireland and Ireland international Stephen Duncan (Omagh Harriers) ran out victorious at the Enniskillen 10k road race on Saturday 10th June 2017. Stephen covered the distance in 33:08 (1st place), finishing close to a minute ahead of local man Stephen Prentice (Enniskillen RC) who clocked 33:54 for 2nd place. Sperrin Harriers’ Pierce McCullagh crossed the line in 34:57 for 3rd place.
In the ladies race, Derry Track Club’s Marina Murphy secured top honours in 38:45 (1st place). Northern Ireland international mountain runner Shileen O’Kane (Lagan Valley AC) performed well to take 2nd place in 41:16, finishing just ahead of Julia Williams (Club Unknown), who recorded 41:38 for 3rd place.

Meanwhile, at Pete’s Alternative Triathlon 10k, a 10k running race (Saturday 10th June 2017), Richard Bradley (Unattached) continued his rise through the ranks with a 39:57 finish for 1st place. In the ladies race, Maeve Taylor (Club Unknown) won in 46:19 (1st place); Maeve finished in 9th place overall.
