Mallusk Harriers 5 mile Road Race 2018:

A capacity field of well-over 300 runners took on the annual Mallusk Harriers 5 mile road race last night (Friday 10th August 2018).

Finn Valley AC’s Oisin Gallen was the emphatic winner of the men’s race at the well organised event.  Oisin saw off some strong competition to secure victory in 26:35 (1st place).  Northern Ireland international Mark McKinstry (North Belfast Harriers) claimed the runners up prize in 27:27 (2nd place).  In an interesting dual for the final podium place, Tom Magee of East Antrim Harriers edged out club mate Matthew Hewitt to take 3rd place in 28:58 – Matthew followed in 29:04 (4th place).

Cathy McCourt (Unattached) led the ladies home in 32:43 (1st place), just under a minute ahead of the emerging Gillian McCrory (St Peter’s AC), who crossed the line in 33:27 for 2nd place.  The always impressive Lynsey Tyro (Orangegrove AC) completed the top three in 33:36 (3rd place).
