Commonwealth Games athlete Emma Mitchell was the official race starter, with athletes starting and finishing in the sun-soaked Havlock Park.  The well-organised event was the latest round of the popular Novosco 10k Grand Prix 2018.

At the front of the field, Paddy Hamilton marked his return from injury with a win.  The international athlete saw off a strong challenge from the always impressive Andrew Annett (North Belfast Harriers) to break the tape in 32:24 (1st place).  Andrew followed just ten seconds later in 32:34 (2nd place), while in-form Mark Smith (Mallusk Harriers) completed the podium in 35:41 (3rd place).

Consistent performer Susan Smyth led the ladies home in 40:10 (1st place), just over thirty seconds clear of Newry AC’s Ciara Coffey, who ran 40:43 (2nd place) for the runners up prize.  Debbie Matchett (Ballydrain Harriers) crossed the line in 41:26 for 3rd place.
