Queens University Belfast AC secure IUAA silver medals at Road Relay Championships!


Irish Universities Athletics Association (IUAA) Road Relays 2017:

On Saturday 18th November 2017, a team from Queens University Belfast AC claimed 2nd place and the associated silver medals at the Irish Universities Athletics Association (IUAA) Road Relay Championships in Dublin, Ireland.

Max Travers, Craig McMeechan, Neil Johnston, James Edgar and Luke Dinsmore covered the 9 mile relay in 44:59, finishing just over a minute behind winners Dublin City University (1st place – 43:56), whose team included NI man Jonny Whan.

QUB AC were well represented in the men’s race, with their teams finishing in 18th place, 22nd place and 28th place.  Ulster University were also in action in the men’s race; their team finished in 20th place (52:22).

In the ladies 6 mile competition, which was won by University of Limerick AC in 34:03 (1st place), the QUB AC ladies team of Aideen Casey, Yasmin Wilson, Deborah Gilliland and Rachel Smith took 17th place in 39:35.  A further QUB AC ladies team claimed 22nd place in 41:55, while the University of Ulster ladies team crossed the line in 43:03 for 24th place.
