RATHLIN RUN 2020 CANCELLED

Fellow Runners,

We have made the tough decision to CANCEL the Rathlin Run 2020.

This is for the safety of everyone involved.

As Northern Ireland, and the world, move towards what will be a new normal in respect of living in a COVID-19 environment, it is impossible for us to predict with any certainty what lies ahead in terms of large gatherings.

Like everyone, we have continually monitored the situation around Coronavirus COVID-19 and Local Government regulations, as well as current guidance from Local Governing Bodies (Athletics NI and Sport NI).

More importantly, and something that has played on our minds – morally, we do not want to be responsible for increasing the risk of infection to our team, our fellow runners and our good friends and hosts, the residents of Rathlin Island. Looking at the available information, there are too many risks associated with large gatherings.

We have consulted the Rathlin Development and Community Association and other key stakeholders during this process and wish to put on record our gratitude for their support throughout.

All of the above has informed our decision making and we hope you understand the rationale behind the cancellation.

We would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for your absolutely amazing support and we hope that this will continue as we look forward to getting together for the 2021 event; we will make sure it is memorable!

Until then, please look after each other and STAY SAFE. Best wishes!

Rathlin Run Team
