Record Breaking Weekend for County Antrim Harriers

Sunday (6th October) saw County Antrim Harriers fielding two Teams at the prestigious Northern Ireland & Ulster Road Relay Championships, hosted by Orangegrove AC. Conditions were perfect at Victoria Park and the Harriers were in fine form.

First up were Andrew Wilson, Sam Dunlop, Stuart Gowans and Thomas Waterfield in the Masters Mens race (4 x 3380m).  The men gave their all and were rewarded with a superb finishing time of 49.55 to set a new Club Record.  Not to be out done, Natasha Hewitt, Ruth Morrison, and Jana Ross swished their ponytails and pulled out all the stops, to also set a new Club Record (39.00) in the Seniors Ladies race (3 x 3380m)!  The ladies were delighted to placed sixth overall and be the first placed County Antrim team.  Club members extend their thanks to Orangegrove AC for hosting another well organised and enjoyable event.

Sunday also saw four members of the Club at the Run Anon Loughview 10k. Neville Anderson (47:29); Margaret Beattie (58:18);  Hayley Lowry (60:21); and Wendy Forsythe (68:10) all ran well and enjoyed the scenic route.

While at beautiful Castle Ward, Club members and their four-legged friends had a pawsome time at Waggy Races 5k (even the last 400m of uphill!)  Well done to Carol Annsley and Megan; Claire Oliphant and Domino; Eileen Stewart and Jack & Molly; and Chris and Suzanne Dickey and Molly.

Elsewhere 13.1 mile race enthusiast, Erin Montgomery was in action again, this time at the challenging DUNE Half Marathon; while Gillian Moore and Helen McKenzie appreciated the friendly and supportive organisers, marshals, volunteers at the Craigavon Lakes 3/4 Marathon.

Congratulations also to Patricia Hamill and Barbara Beattie who celebrated their 50th ParkRuns with fellow Harriers and celebratory cake on Saturday.
