The entire club of Slieve Gullion Runners are so proud of fellow member Robbie Marsh has he took on this extreme challenge of the World famous CCC Mont Blanc  with an amazing belief and commitment at the start line in Courmayeur France  knowing that the alps with the amazing Mont Blanc lay in wait of him for the next 23 hours. This race saw runners from all over the World take part and Robbie held his own by ranking runners at each time stage , we tracked Robbie live in to the small hours of Saturday morning having started earlier that Friday and Robbie was finding his form at each stage and getting stronger.It’s not too often we hear about runners running 3 countries in one day and over some of the highest peaks in Europe at the same time, but Robbie ran at the start in Italy then on to  Switzerland  and finishing in France at  Chamonix under the famous arch and covering 101 KM  distance and a proud moment to have his family waiting for him at the finish line. Robbie’s finishing time was an amazing 23:06:09 and you can count that he is already planning something again ,but he will have to do something extra special to beat this ,as this is not just a local runner doing the area proud but Ireland. Well done to Robbie and his family a true moment to treasure for ever. #teamSGR

SHARIN  TAKES ON THE HILLS IN RATHFRILAND…..

Well done to Sharin Byrne who ran again at this year’s  Rathfriland 5K event on Wednesday evening with  some welcomed rain near the end to cool all the runners.  Sharin took on this event last year and knowing that it is a tough wee course she took it on again. Sharin proudly represented the club and came away with her well earned medal and a great time of 48 mins .

LAWRENCE AT THE LAGANSIDE 10K.…….

SGR Lawrence Malone took to Belfast on Sunday that seen him kick off the first event in September for the club. The 10k course that starts and finishes in Ormeau Park is one of the top races in the running calendar and great to see an SGR take it on. Lawrence finished in a great time of 00:46:34
