Rudolph Run Celebrates 10 Years

Saturday 7th Dec 2019

The Popular Rudolph Run 10k and 5k Road Race celebrates its Tenth Anniversary on Saturday 7th December 12 noon at Eskra Community Centre. The annual event is organised by Knockmany Running Club and Eskra Community Association and is now an established fixture in the local road racing calendar, last year attracting over 400 participants from across the country. All runners, walkers and families are very welcome to take up the challenge of the 10k or 5k route before the Christmas festivities.

This year there will be prize money available of over £1,400 including the usual vet category prizes in 10k race as well as U18 & Over 18 male & female prizes in the 5k race. There will also be £100 prizes for setting a new record time over the 10k course in both male and female categories. The present record for the men’s race is 31.44 set by Stephen Duncan in 2011. Ann-Marie McGlynn set a fastest time of 35.01 for the ladies in 2015. Ann- Marie has went from strength to strength and now has her eyes set on next year’s Tokyo Olympics after setting a new Northern Irish Marathon record at the recent Dublin City Marathon.

This year to mark the tenth anniversary there will be special Rudolph Run Beanie Hat for entrants. New features this year also include extra prize money in the 5k event and £50 rewarded for setting a new 5k course record for both Male and Female. The current fastest time for the 5k is 16.47 set by Oisin McGuigan (Male) and 18.53 set by Eimear McCarroll (Female) both in 2018. There will also be pacers to help anyone hoping to achieve target times in the 10k race.

The 10k team event grows in popularity each year with an extra 30 runners receiving cash prizes with 5 runners, all from the same club and not mixed (male & female teams) with the best 4 times to count.  Team registration is free, give your team name and members at registration on race day.
