Saturday the 3rd of August sees the return of the Patton’s Run the Trails 10K and Half Marathon for the second year at Mount Stewart, hosted by the Scrabo Striders. This is a fantastic setting for the races with a range of surfaces to run on giving the competitors the complete run experience.
This year’s event starts and finishes at the front of the stunning Mount Stewart House and incorporates a section of newly opened trails, which leads runners through the Piggery and Folly before arriving at the character building hill at the Temple of the Winds.
If you have time to look around you here, you will get stunning views of Strangford Lough and beyond to Scrabo Tower and the Mourne Mountains in the distance. For the 10K competitors it is 1km from here back to the front of house and the Half Marathon competitors get to do it all again in a second lap as well as a loop of the picturesque lake to start off with.
All runners will receive an impressive finishers medal and there are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female in both events, and as something different this year we will be giving a gold, silver and bronze medal to the top 3 males and females in both races.
As with all Scrabo Strider events we will have our famous Strider hospitality afterwards with this year being hot dogs and tray bakes for all runners and DJ Colin Walker will be keeping you entertained with his DJ set front of house as you cheer the runners over the line. Don’t miss out on this great event, get signed up before it’s too late!
