Well done to hosts Glenmore ac for staging another great Michael Fearon and Kevin Marron 5KM in Carlingford and big congratulations on your  50th year of athletics from everyone at SGR . Another great show from our  SGR runners at this event which saw Paddy Hamilton on the podium again with a 2nd place finish  in a time of  00:15:03 , great times were achieved  by all SGR with  Peter Rodgers, Joe mc Kevitt, Stephen Quinn, Ronan Halpenny, Larry Malone and Sharin Bryne .

 1ST PLACE AND LARGE SGR TEAM AT MULLAGHBAWN 10 /5K 

A team of 10 SGR took part in the Mullaghbawn 10K and 5k events on Sunday. This turned into a great event for SGR as Joe McKevitt won the 10K and  3 SGR in the top 5 with  Ronan halfpenny in 4th place and Hugh Morgan in 5th place and Aisling Martin the 3rd lady home across the line in the 10k.

At the time of going to press full times were not available on all runners and will have all full times in next weeks but here is what we have so far.. in the 10K Joe Mc kevitt 1st male 38 min, Ronan halfpenny 4th male 00:44.39.

Hugh Morgan 00:45.20 5th male ,Keelan McCabe 48 mins, Stephen Mc Cabe 59 min, Martin Mc Shane 59 mins, Shane Sands and Niall Martin no times as of yet and full times of everyone in press next week . In the 5K event Josh Muckian 00:23:24.

SGR Nuala Higgins ran at the Feile 5 mile race as part of the Féile an Phobail in Belfast on Sunday , a big event and was great to a SGR taking it on. Nuala came away with a great time of 00:43:27 at the event.

SGR Sharin Byrne ran at the Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday.This was Sharin’s second running event of the weekend and our sole club runner at the event. Sharin who was at  Kilbroney Park just the day before helping out with the Top of the Mournes Triathlon  came away with a great time of 01:43:24 and a great ambassador for our club.

Well done to SGR Sharin Byrne who had a real busy weekend with running and volunteering at events . Sharin started by running at the Carlingford 5K on Friday evening , Volunteering at Top of the Mournes triathlon on Saturday in Rostrevor and then running again at the Women’s mini marathon on Sunday take a well earned break Sharin and well done from everyone at the club.

Huge congratulations to SGR Ryan Monaghan on a blinding run at Newry Tri Club’s Top of the Mournes triathlon on Saturday. Ryan was part of the winning relay team and brought his team home with a brilliant 00:43:42 run on a difficult, hilly course! SGR was well represented at the popular event with Brian Muckian taking on the 40km bike leg as part of a relay team while Seamus Loughran and Martin McShane tackled the full 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run. A big thank you and well done to SGR members  Ciaran Savage and Sharin Byrne who volunteered on the day .

The G819 8k  /8 Mile run and 8K Walk is back for 2019 and will take place at the Slieve Gullion Forest Park on Sunday 3rd November ,online registration is now open at www.eventbrite.co.uk just type G819 on search bar and please sign up,  help us celebrate our clubs 5th birthday celebrations in style  by taking on the G819.
