Speedy Times at Seeley Cup

On Saturday (31st November), in surprisingly pleasant conditions, seven well-prepared County Antrim Harriers toed the line, along with almost 1000 others, at the prestigious Seeley Cup 10k Road Race, in Belfast.  The flat fast looped course took the racers along the Lagan embankment and through Ormeau Park.  All competed strongly, and raced hard to achieve well deserved PBs.  Ever improving Andrew Wilson (equipped with new trainers) crossed the line in a PB time of 40:06; quickly followed by Mark McIlroy, in his Club debut, and Samuel Dunlop who was hot on his heels (40:25 and 40:25 PB respectively).  Next home, in impressive times were a delighted Simon McDowell (41:09 PB), Natasha Hewitt (42:36 PB), Mandy Yau-Wilson – who was feeling under-the-weather (45.31 PB), and John Holmes (54.11 PB).  All agreed it was a tough but worthwhile outing, and greatly appreciated support from Club members around the course.

Further afield, Tom Waterfield, who despite battling freezing fog and strong winds at the Nottingham Christmas Marathon, flew round the 26.2miles in a superb 3:33:09 (PB).

Well done to Barbara Dalton and Lorna Haggan who, on Sunday, donned their Santa outfits to take part in the 3k Santa Family Mud Run for the Tiny Life Charity.
