Sperrin Harriers Spring into Action

The runners of Sperrin Harriers took part in multiple races over the weekend across the province and beyond. Results included a plethora of Personal Bests and podium places across Saturday and Sunday.

Carlingford Half Marathon

Raymond Thom took on Carlingford Half Marathon. This event for large parts runs parallel to Carlingford Lough. Raymond completed the race in a fantastic time of 1.36.05.

Shane’s Castle Half Marathon

A trio of Harriers raced Shane’s Castle Half Marathon. Located in County Antrim, the race is multi terrain, including trails and tarmac. The results are as follows; Jane Thom (2.07.04), Stephanie Henry (2.07.59) and David O’Brien (3.25.00).

Walled City Derry 10 Miler

Taking in the Foyle and Peace Bridges, with long stretches along the River Foyle, this race continues to be a firm favourite.

Personal Bests were aplenty, with no less than three Harriers running their fastest times over the distance. They were Jarleth Loughran (1.11.25), Stephen Lynch (1.18.37) and Joanne Fingleton (1.23.54).

Also competing were  Andrew Newell (59.48) and Nicola Gillespie (1.34.51).

Carmen 10k

This race is well known for its high quality field of entrants. Pierce McCullagh and Brian Taggart put in very impressive performances, taking second and third places with times of 34.18 and 35.46 respectively.

Not to be outdone, Patsy Hughes won first place in his age category with a time of 46.46.

Other Harriers participating were Paul McLaughlin (38.26), Damien McCaffrey (43.46) and Barry O’Neill (56.53).

MUSA Parkrun, Cookstown

Damien Atkinson continued his spectacular run of form with yet another PB. He recorded a time of 22.28.

Also taking part were Hannah Glasgow (23.45), Ellen Glasgow (23.51) and Maureen Mallon (27.50).

Dungannon Park

Martin Donaghy took on Dungannon Park parkrun, completing the course in a great time of 27.14.

Bohermeen Half Marathon

Connor Martin completed the Bohermeen Half Marathon. This race is held in Co. Meath and Connor put in a fantastic performance, storming home with a time of 1.17.33, earning himself a new PB in the process.

Cambridge Half Marathon 

Emma Duffy ran the Cambridge Half Marathon. She also achieved a new personal best for the distance by putting a fantastic time of 2.06.40.

Brackaville Round Roughan 5k

Brian Taggart returned to action on the Sunday to take his second podium place of the weekend, with a 3rd place finish with a time of 17.02.

He was closely followed by Ryan Treanor (17.59). Patsy Hughes (22.46) and

Barry O’Neill (26.33) put in good performances especially as it was both their second races of the weekend.
