Stephen O’Gorman and Louise Smith lead the way at Tandragee 10k!

Tandragee 10k 2017:

On Sunday 20th August 2017, nearly one hundred athletes toed the line for the increasingly popular Tandragee 10k road race.  The event is the tenth race in the ongoing Novosco 10k Grand Prix 2017.

It was a day when pre-event favourites lived up to expectation, filling the podium places.  In the men’s race, Dromore AC’s always improving Stephen O’Gorman, an NI & Ulster 10,000m bronze medallist, was the first competitor to reach the finish line – Stephen broke the tape in 33:35 for 1st place.  North Down AC duo Dennis Scott and Francis Marsh battled it out for the runners up spot, with Dennis eventually edging it in 34:21 (2nd place).  Francis claimed 3rd place in 34:26.

Louise Smith dominated the ladies race – the North Belfast Harriers star won in 38:35 (1st place).  The remaining podium places were fiercely contested, with Susan Smyth (Dromore AC) and Ballydrain Harrier pair Amanda Perry and Debbie Matchett all crossing the finish line within ten seconds.  It was Susan who took 2nd place in 40:28 and Amanda claimed 3rd place in 40:33.
