The Storming the Castle 10kroad race took place in Carrickfergus on Sunday 27th August 2017, with around 800 athletes taking part – this was a record year surpassing all expectations.

Weather conditions were good and alongside this the popular, fast, flat course provided the top runners with ideal conditions to compete for the top spots!

Andy Smyth, Seapark AC Race Director said,

“Today’s race has been a really big success and congratulations to all our winners who performed so well.

“We have been delighted to see so many clubs represented alongside individual runners from across Northern Ireland. There has been a fantastic atmosphere with many people bringing family and friends and making a day of it with all the family entertainment in the park.

“We have had some excellent feedback and have really established the race as a ‘must do’ event in the annual running calendar – particularly as it is part of the Novosco 10k Grand Prix Series.

“I would also take the opportunity to give a massive thanks to the full organising team – this has really been a real Team Seapark event.

“Finally, we could not have done it without our partners in Mid and East Antrim Council and all our sponsors, in particular our main sponsor Ownies Bar Bistro who provided all the family entertainment in Shaftesbury Park”.

“We hope everyone really enjoyed the day and will all come back next year so we can continue to grow this event year on year”,  Andy concluded.
