September got off to an excellent start with outstanding performances from Termoneeny Running Club members across a variety of events both near and far.

Run Fintona Run

Saturday saw many fine performances and Andy Campbell certainly had a terrific start to the weekend because he achieved a new personal best at the Run Fintona Run 10k in Omagh.  Andy shaved more than three minutes off his previous personal best by finishing in a fantastic time of 1:00:48.  This success is very much deserved for Andy.

Larne 10K

The Larne 10k took place on Saturday and consisted of a two lap course, starting in the centre of Larne town then continuing along the promenade with stunning views along the sea front.  Tracy Shanahan recorded a super result of 1:05:40.

Dingle Half Marathon

The beautiful but very challenging Dingle Half Marathon also occurred on Saturday and Sabrena McLaughlin travelled to County Kerry to participate in it.  Despite several steep climbs, Sabrena still enjoyed the experience including the breathtaking scenery and completed it in a brilliant time of 2:51:10.  Well done Sabrena.

Diva Dash

The annual ladies only four mile Diva Dash race, organised by Carmen Runners, took place in Carrickmore on Saturday morning and two TRC ladies, Olivia McKenna and Nicola Clements, dashed around the course with ease.  It was a worthy event to support because all proceeds went to the Termonmaguirc Cancer Patients Fund.  Well done to Olivia and Nicola.

EAMS 100th Marathon

East Antrim Marathon Series celebrated their 100th event with a Marathon and Half Marathon.  Declan Leung and James McNally, regular attendees at EAMS fixtures, were there to take part in the festivities.  Declan ran the Half Marathon and James ran the full Marathon.  The course consisted of a repeated loop which started at Greenisland Golf Club, through Monkstown Wood and along the shore with a one mile climb up Station Road at the end.  Congratulations to EAMS on reaching this milestone and excellent running as always from James and Declan.

Antrim Parkrun

Great running was on display at Antrim Parkrun with three members taking part.  Fergal Hughes finished in an incredibly fast time of 20:33.  Ann McGarvey ran her 30th parkrun in a fantastic 32:57 and Anne Breen completed her 37th parkrun with a super result of 33:01.

Gaeltacht Quarter 10k

The Gaeltacht Quarter 10k, which took place on the Falls Road in Belfast, was organised to raise funds for organ donations.  Tracy Shanahan and Andy Campbell both ran 10k races on the previous day but they were both fresh on their feet and ran extremely well with results of 1:07:44 and 1:08:01 respectively.  Kerry Archibald also had a terrific run and accomplished a marvellous result of 54:47.  Well done to all three members.

Aware Mood Walk

In his third fixture of the weekend, Andy Campbell, after running a 10k in Belfast, travelled home to Omagh where he ran 3.5 miles in the Aware Mood Walk.  Andy finished in 36:05 and it was great for him to support this worthy event in aid of mental health.  This concluded a marvellous weekend of running for Andy.

Dundalk Marathon

After successfully completing the Dundalk Marathon, Christian Fortes O’Neill now has sixty-two marathons in his running portfolio and twelve of these were completed this year alone.  The Dundalk course was not easy with two loops which included the infamously tough Magic Hill to conquer twice.   Christian always rises to the challenge and achieved a fantastic result of 3 hours and 47 minutes.  This race was organised by marathon legend Collette O’Hagan and raised money for Sepsis treatment.

Greath North Run

The club was proud to have representation from Paula Smyth at the Great North Run which is the largest Half Marathon in the world, taking place in North East England each September.  It is not every day that one gets the opportunity to run in the same event as Mo Farah and Paula had a momentous race by registering a huge new personal best with an amazing result of 2:21:59.  Congratulations Paula.

Thanks and congratulations to all of our members who continue to represent the Club so well throughout the country and further afield in a variety of distances and disciplines.   If you are interested in joining Termoneeny RC please visit termoneenyrc.com or send us a message on facebook.
