Termoneeny Running Club Round Up w/e 5th January 2020

2020 has got off to an incredibly busy start  as Termoneeny Runners have been out in full force this week starting the year as they mean to continue!

EAMS Back to Back Day 1

Monday 30th saw the first of three back to back runs hosted by the East Antrim Marathon Series (EAMS). Taking part were Kerry Archibald, Declan Leung and Jacqueline McGonigle in the event from Carrickfergus Castle. It was an early start for everyone but conditions were perfect along this out and back course along the Lough Shore. Both Kerry and Declan completed the half marathon distance with Declan scoring himself yet another PB. Jacqueline completed the 10k course. Thanks to everyone from East Antrim Marathon Series for the warm welcome and the usual high standard of hospitality.
Results :  10K –  Jacqueline McGonigle 1:11:04.  Half Marathon – Declan Leung 1:35:40 4th overall, PB, Kerry Archibald 2:07:26.

EAMS Back to Back Day 2

On New Year’s Eve Kerry Archibald completed her second half marathon in just two days in the second of this three days series finishing in a fantastic 2:23:46. This time the route took runners from Greenisland Gold Club, through Monkstown Wood and along the Shore Road. Congratulations Kerry!

Lough 5

There was an incredible turnout at the New Year’s Day Lough5 at Loughmacrory with Termoneeny Running Club well represented. Although the morning got off to a frosty start, conditions were perfect. This is a beautiful, if challenging course which begins through the village, includes the notorious Joe’s Hill and finishes with a one mile trail around the lough with stunning views. Congratulations to everyone who took part and thanks to the organisers and volunteers for such a superb event and post-race hospitality.

New Year’s Day Parkrun, Portrush

There were quite a few members starting of the New Year in the best way possible on Wednesday! Well done to our Portrush Parkrunners, Michelle Comer and Ann Johnston who both ran super times this on the beach.  Results: Michelle Comer 30:54, Ann Johnston 30:55 PB.

New Year’s Day Parkrun, Antrim

Also seeing in the New Year with a Parkrun, this time at Antrim parkrun, were Trevor and Paula Smyth, Sinead McGrogan and Lindsay Gibson. Congratulations everyone! Especially Trevor who finished THIRD with a PB of 18:04! Fantastic running from everyone.

Jolly Joggers 10k

Four members travelled to Emyvale in County Monaghan on New Year’s Day for their first run of 2020, completing the Jolly Joggers 10K. This was a lovely, undulating course with a couple of challenging hills to negotiate, but everyone finished strong! Thanks to the Jolly Joggers for a fantastic event, with over 700 competitors, and their generous post-race hospitality. Well done everyone, especially after completing the Lough5 the day before.  Results: Colette Donaghy 1:01:16, Tracy Shanahan 1:05:30, Jacqueline McGonigle 1:08:46, Andy Campbell 1:24:26.

Run the Rock 10k

Thomas Doherty took to the hills of Tyrone to compete in the notoriously tough Run the Rock, also on New Year’s Day. Thomas put in yet another impressive performance finishing in 40:00. What a fantastic start to the New Year, well done Thomas.

Antrim Parkrun
Parkrunning in Antrim on Saturday morning were Ann McGarvey, Jacqueline McGonigle, Christina McErlean and Anne Breene. It was a lovely, fresh morning for running this flat course from the Lough Shore Marina around the scenic Antrim Castle Gardens. Well done ladies!
Results:  Christina McErlean 26.01, Jacqueline McGonigle 31:16 (course PB), Ann McGarvey 33:09, Anne Breen 33:24.

MUSA Parkrun
Parkrunning in Cookstown were two more ladies – Colette Donaghy and Pauline McWilliams. MUSA is three short laps around Loughry College and not one of the easiest courses.  Results: Colette Donaghy 28:35 PB, Pauline McWilliams 34:02. Congratulations on superb running ladies!

Limavady Parkrun

Congratulations to Michelle Comer who returned to Limavady Parkrun on Saturday finishing in a fantastic time of 23:41 and was 2nd female home – well done Michelle!

Ecos Parkrun Ballymena

Ecos Parkrun was the Parkrun of choice for Fergal Hughes and Paula Smyth. Fergal completed this figure of 8 course in just 20:16 with Paula finishing in super time of 29:13!  Paula’s son Daniel also completed the course in 28:20 (just beating mum!) Congratulations everyone.

Dungannon Park Parkrun

Taking part in Dungannon Park parkrun  was Olivia McKenna. Olivia finished in a brilliant 28:18! Congratulations Olivia, Dungannon Park is not an easy course!

Run Armagh, Beat the January Blues

It was an early start for three of our runners on Sunday morning for the Run Armagh Beat the January Blues event. Declan Leung completed the half marathon which was 2.5 laps of the Mall and four hilly loops around the outskirts of the city, finishing near the Planetarium. Sinead and Jacqueline completed the 10k – 1 lap of the Mal and two loops. Well done everyone! Results : Half Marathon – Declan Leung 1:41:23. 10K – Sinead McGrogan  1:03:21, Jacqueline McGonigle 1:13:36.  Thanks as always to Run Armagh for looking after everyone so well.
