Termoneeny Running Club Round Up w/e 9th February, 2020

Storm Ciara no match for TRC Runners with Podiums and PBs!

Antrim Parkrun

Our two Antrim Parkrunners on Saturday were Kevin McErlean and Paula Smith. This was Kevin’s 24th Parkrun and his 8th Antrim Parkrun. It was Paula’s 14th Parkrun and her 4th time at Antrim. Fantastic running by both members!

Kevin McErlean 27:47
Paula Smith 28:42

Well done also to young Paul Smyth who was out running with mum today and finished in 24:26, scoring himself an amazing new parkrun pb!

MUSA Parkrun, Cookstown

Huge congratulations to Tony Toner who also scored himself a fantastic Parkrun Course PB at MUSA, finishing in an incredible 21:01 and 18th overall – well done Tony!

Limavady Parkrun
Congratulations to Michelle Comer who took part in her 9thLimavady Parkrun today. Michelle finished in a super time of 28:04. Well done Michelle!

Omagh Parkrun

Kerry Archibald continued her streak of double run Saturdays last weekend with her first run being Omagh Parkrun, finishing in just 27:17, despite not being 100% fit.  However this did not stop Kerry heading on over to the Christian Brothers 10K to finish as our first Termoneeny runner home. Well done Kerry you’re made of strong stuff! Feel better soon.

Thanks to all the wonder volunteers who give up their time at the various Parkruns across the country.   Please consider volunteering at your local Parkrun.

Omagh CBS 5K/10K

Undeterred by the prospect of storm Ciara, 5 TRC runners took part in Saturday morning’s CBS Omagh 5k/10k. These were both challenging courses with hills and long climbs to overcome. Thankfully, and somewhat unexpectedly the sun shone, but the wind was head on at times making running conditions difficult, but everyone ran a super race!

Results :
5K
Sabrena McLaughlin : (tbc)
10K
Kerry Archibald 57:58
Andy Campbell 1:09:56
Tracy Shanahan 1:10:08

Irish XC Championships, Co. Wicklow

Tommy Hughes wins his first XC O60 title in County Wicklow!  Tommy made the 380 mile round trip to Avondale Forest Park, Rathdrum on Saturday, despite suffering from a recent head cold and we are delighted for Tommy on his win!  Tommy will be the first to admit that XC is not his forte but some people may beg to differ after this result!

On Saturday 1st February Denise Martin and her daughter Leona took part in the hugely popular Born 2 Run, Run Forest Run Series. This event, the 7th and undoubtedly one of the most popular in the series, took place at the beautiful Antrim Castle Gardens, taking in the ruins of Shanes Castle with spectacular views of Lough Neagh.  We are delighted to see Denise out racing again this year and congratulate her and Leona on their results:

Leona Martin : 28:16

Denise Martin : 30:12
