Washingbay Green Run – Statement Thursday 12 March

As the event committee of the Washingbay Green Run, the welfare of our community & participants is always our top priority. Due to the rapidly developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the event scheduled for Saturday 14th March has been rescheduled to take place on the evening of Friday 12th June. This decision-making process has been a very difficult one, but after deep consideration of the wellbeing of our volunteers & runners the decision to postpone until a later date made sense.

At this time we kindly ask for your patience. Organising running events can be demanding and we have realised that postponing an event can be even more problematic. We can confirm that online registrations will remain valid for the revised date of Friday 12th June. We do understand that some entrants may not be available for this new date, therefore our club can offer refunds upon request, albeit we have been informed this morning by Athletics NI that we will incur a fee for each cancellation which is unfortunate as a fundraising event. We kindly ask for your support at this time and we promise to put all our efforts into making the rescheduled event even better than originally planned for all participants & sponsors. Our donation to our partnered charity Pieta House of this year’s event will also remain and will be presented over the incoming days. Your support is greatly appreciated.

We will try our best to communicate this message to all online entrants via email & social media platforms, but we would appreciate your further assistance by spreading the word as best as possible. Further information regarding race-pack and t-shirt collections will follow in the very near future.

Yours Faithfully,

Brendan Quinn
