Born 2 Run Tollymore 10k & 5k 2018:

On  Saturday 6th January 2018, close to eight hundred runners descended on Tollymore Forest Park, in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, for the Born 2 Run Tollymore 10k and 5k races.  This was the fifth event of the event management company’s ongoing ‘Run Forest Run’ Series.

Well-know mountain running international William McKee (Mourne Runners) showed his class with a comfortable victory.  The Kilkeel based star led the field home in 35:06 for 1st place.  Noel Kerr (Unattached), a man who has impressed throughout the Series, followed in 36:09 (2nd place), while QUB AC’s Vincent McKee took 3rd place in 36:58.

North Belfast Harriers’ Gladys Ganiel O’Neill won the ladies race by a considerable margin, when taking 4th place overall.  Gladys covered the route in 37:44 (1st place) – this was five minutes clear of the runner up Bernadette O’Kane (Dub Runners), who crossed the line in 42:46 (2nd place).  Murlough AC’s Niamh O’Connell completed the top three in 43:43 (3rd place).

In the associated 5k race, Shane King (Unattached) took top honours in 18:12 (1st place).  City of Lisburn AC’s Judith Lonnen won the ladies race in 19:22 (1st place); this was enough to see Judith take 4th place overall.
